Today we took a rest day in the wonderful city of Burgos which started with churros and chocolate with Trish. She was then kind enough to take Maverick for me so that I could wander the inside of the Burgos Cathedral which is simply jaw dropping. The following pictures could never do it justice.
After taking my time in the cathedral, I was reunited with Maverick and Trish, who had gone to check out bike rentals for La Meseta. Trish has been sidelined here in Burgos for a few days now due to an infection in her foot and she’s itching to get back out there and thinks a bike will be a way to get on the road sooner. She’s rented one to start out tomorrow. I myself was kind of tempted to rent one of those bike and buggy things so Maverick could ride in the back and wouldn’t be too hot on the shadeless stretch of La Meseta.
We went our separate ways for the afternoon and then met again for dinner that evening. Tomorrow we start what will probably be the most grueling section, La Meseta, a stretch from Burgos to León that is notoriously flat, hot, and monotonous.
